For learners studying biological subjects
A tractor ride to the ‘Bos-bus’ in the mountain takes the learners on an adventure. Farmer Redbeard, a Master’s student in Viticulture, spends his time explaining the ecosystems involved in maintaining a healthy balance in the environment. A boerewors roll around a campfire will satisfy their hunger. A talk on the process of honey-making, typical Cape Fynbos, or the various bird species in the Cape is presented. After lunch, a short guided walk around the bird dam to see who can identify the most birds, plants, animals, and insects is an opportunity for discussion. Home time.
A once in a lifetime, practical beekeeping experience with Farmer Redbeard! Getting to know the importance of bees in our environment and the stages and processes involved in retrieving and processing honey in a safe and interactive way…
For younger learners
A tractor ride around the orchards and vineyards to the farm animals is full of fun and excitement. Farmer Redbeard teaches them about the farm animals and what they provide for us. They get an opportunity to learn about trees and what they need to grow. They sow their own seeds in their homemade greenhouse and take them home to watch them germinate.
An optional boerewors roll around a campfire for those hungry mouths, ends the morning’s fun
